Dick Van Dyke

A few weeks ago, I wrote about individuals who have reached the age of 100.  I was reminded of this recently when I came across a tribute to Dick Van Dyke, the iconic comedian who starred in the weekly, evening staple, his namesake television sitcom.

Van Dyke would go on to star in Mary Poppins with Julie Andrews and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang along with numerous other performances in a career that has spanned more than eight decades.

Known for his dry, quirky, self-deprecating sense of humor, Van Dyke’s performances would always bring a smile and a chuckle to audiences around the world.

As he approaches his 100th year of life, tributes from around the world have begun to appear in the media.  One of the most touching occurred recently when Van Dyke collaborated with Chris Martin, pianist for British rock band Coldplay on the music video production that feature’s the song All My Love.

Even at age 99, Van Dyke can still do a mean soft shoe.  If you’ve yet to see this seven-minute video, I think you enjoy it.
